Israel’s first international wine exhibition took place in Tel Aviv from June 13th to 15th 2006. Over 20,000 visitors thronged to the Tel Aviv Exhibition Center to taste wine, meet winemakers and discuss wine with their business partners & friends.
The exhibition was a combined initiative by the Israel Trade Fairs & Convention Center, the Israel Wine & Gourmet Magazine and the Grape Man Wine Center. They were supported by The Israel Export Institute, The Ministry of Trade & Industry, The Ministry of Agriculture, The Israel Wine & Grapes Board and the Israel Wines Portal.
Israel’s largest wineries were all present: Carmel, Barkan, Golan Heights, Efrat, Binyamina, Tishbi, Dalton, Galil Mountain – along with numerous small and boutique wineries. An international element was provided by Israel’s largest importers including Hacarem, The Scottish Trading Co. and Shaked, who were joined by smaller importers.
A number of international wine judges, bought to Israel for the Terravino Wine Tasting Competition, were amongst the guests. They were joined by a number of guests invited by the Israel Export Institute. These included journalists from international magazines such as Wine & Spirit, Wine Enthusiast, buyers from Canada, America, Japan and even ‘Masters of Wine,’ who were able to sample Israeli wine for the first time.
Overall the event was considered a great success which symbolized the growing maturity of the Israel wine industry.
