Israeli wines received prestigious awards at ‘ Les Citadelles du Vin’, a competition held at the Vinexpo Exhibition in Bordeaux.
After a tasting of 1,466 wines from 32 countries, seven Israeli wines received ‘Le Trophee Citadelles’, the top prize awarded. The most successful wineries were the Golan Heights Winery winning three ‘first place’ trophies for white wines and Carmel Winery, which won two ‘first place’ for red wines.

Apart from the main ‘Citadelles Trophy’, other Trophies were presented, which were the equivalent of silver and bronze medals. Overall the leading winery was Carmel Winery with 8 trophies in all, followed by Golan Heights Winery and Barkan, both with six trophies. (Carmel’s trophies included Carmel & Yatir Wines, and Barkan’s were for Barkan & Segal wines.)
