The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, has ordered the Aviv Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 produced by Saslove Winery, for their retail stores. The LCBO is the largest of Canada’s purchasing & retailing governmental monopolies and this the first time there has been a substantial order for one of Israel’s new wave of quality boutique wineries.
The buyer for LCBO first tasted Saslove wines at the Handcrafted Wines of Israel stand at Vinitaly in 2004. Soon after the Aviv won a gold medal at the International Challenge du Vin in Bordeaux.
Saslove Winery is owned by Barry Saslove, who was born & brought up in Canada. He made aliyah (immigrated) to Israel in 1967. Sasloves Meat Market run by Barry’s father, was a name well known to gourmet circles in Ottowa. Now Saslove wines will become known to the next generation.
