Israeli wines won twenty five medals in the 2006 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
The winner of the only Gold Medal awarded to Israel, was the Carmel’s Late Harvest Gewurztraminer 2004 from Sha’al vineyard in the northern Golan Heights. This wine was recently the winner of three major prizes in TerraVino, Israel’s first truly international wine tasting competition, and furthermore it received 95 points from Howard Goldberg of the New York Times & Decanter.

Bronze medals were won by:
Binyamina (3), Carmel (3), Galil Mountain (2), Golan Heights (3), Recanati (2), Tishbi (1),and Tulip (1), wineries.
In total, the most successful wineries were the Golan Heights Winery with six medals and Carmel Winery with five, including the only gold.
The IWSC, held annually in London, is one of the most well respected of the main international competitions.
