Three Israeli wines feature in the list of ‘The 100 Most Exciting Wine Finds’ in the recently published ‘Wine Report 2007.’ They take their place with wines from all over the world, including some from the most famous wine regions.
The wines are:
Flam Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2003
Kayoumi Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmel Winery 2003
Margalit Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 2003
The wines are each from the excellent vintage of 2003 and made from grapes grown in Upper Galilee vineyards. The Wine Report 2007 ranks Flam as Israel’s 3rd best winery, Margalit as the 4th best and Carmel as Israel’s fastest improving winery.
The final selection of the 100 wines was made by Tom Stevenson, the editor of The Wine Report. He tasted the wines blind, grouped by variety and style, before making his choice. Tom Stevenson is a specialist on the wines of Champagne and Alsace and author of ‘The New Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia’.
