Wine writer Tom Stevenson selected his list of the ‘The 100 Most Exciting Wine Finds’ in his newly published Wine Report. To Israel’s credit, there are three Israeli wines in this prestigious list:

Carmel Limited Edition 2003

Castel Grand Vin 2004

Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

Tom Stevenson wrote that the reason for this list of wines:  ” ….. is to bring to the attention of serious wine enthusiasts the different and most surprising wines being developed in the classic areas, the best wines from emerging regions, and other cutting-edge stuff.”

He goes on to explain about the wines chosen: “A number of these wines will be available on certain markets, but many are so new, restricted in production, or downright obscure that the only way to get hold of them would be to visit the producer – if he or she has not already sold out.”

Last year in the World Report 2007 there were also three Israeli wines listed:

Flam Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2003

Kayoumi Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmel Winery 2003

Margalit Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 2003

Each wine proposed is personally tasted and endorsed by Tom Stevenson and he only lists those he can personally recommend. The presence of Israel’s best wines on the list in the last two years is further confirmation of the advance in quality made by Israeli wines in recent years.
