Bruichladdich (pronounced Brook-laddie) is coming to Each whisky is an individual expression, only produced in small batches, which makes even their regular lines collectors’ items. Bruichladdich is known as the ‘whisky for wine lovers’. They have a number of whiskies ‘finished’ in wine barrels from wineries such as Chateau d’Yquem, Chateau Haut Brion, Guigal, Zind-Humbrecht and Willi Opitz. The choice of wineries, delicate and complex nature of their whiskies and in depth tasting notes appeal greatly to wine connoisseurs. In keeping with their individuality, Bruichladdich has produced two expressions in their Limited Release Vintage Series, especially for the Israel and American market: Bruichladdich 1994 and Bruichladdich 1989. Both were aged in Bourbon casks for 12 and 18 years respectively. They were then ‘finished’ in casks previously used by Carmel Winery to age their Single Vineyard and Appellation wines, which received the Trophy at Les Citadelles du Vin at Vinexpo, in Bordeaux. (Both were from Upper Galilee vineyards and aged in Carmel’s Zichron Ya’acov Cellars and obviously the wines were Kosher.) These two unique whiskies and others in the range are being imported to Israel by Oded Shoham, the Wines and Spirits Manager of Israco, the import company of Tiv Tam. Founded in 1881, Bruichladdich was revived in 2000 by a consortium led by The Master Distiller of Bruichladdich is Jim McEwan, a legendary figure in the world of whisky. He has been Industry Leader of The Year, Personality of The Year and no less than three times Distiller of The Year. Bruichladdich is fiercely independent, non conformist and innovative. The enfant terrible shaking up the stuffy whisky industry. However this has not prevented them gaining the following awards: Islay is an Island off the west coast of Scotland. It is usually associated with whiskies that are characteristically pungent, smoky and medicinal in flavor. Bruichladdich is offering a more harmonious, subtler and more complex whisky.
