Alcohol by volume: 14.5% Total acidity: 6.5 g/L Bottles produced: 6,000. The wine is made of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot all harvested manually at the Chateau’s vineyard. The different wines were aged in new French-oak barrels for a period of 12 months and then following blending, for additional four months in the same barrels. The 2002 growing season was very hot and long and generally produced robust wines high in alcohol. The 2002 Eliad is made almost entirely of one parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon that produced the most balanced fruit. The wine is medium to full body and has some ripe yet firm tannin. The flavors of ripe fruit are accompanied by nuances of smoke and cedar. It would be best served at Merlot 2002 Alcohol by volume: 14% Total acidity: 6 g/L Bottles produced: 5,400 The wine is made of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon all harvested at the Chateau’s vineyards early in the morning. The wine was aged for one year in one-year old French-oak barrels and then blended with some Cabernet Sauvignon for extra body prior to bottling. The 2002 Merlot is a soft and fruity wine with a fresh fruity nose of cherries and plum. It has a medium to light body and mild tannins. The wine would be best served at Alcohol by volume: 14% Total acidity: 6 g/L Bottles produced: 4,200 The wine is made of 100% Syrah that was harvested at the Chateau’s vineyards. The grapes underwent a spontaneous fermentation in open top containers and then aged for 15 months in used French-oak barrels that only lend a hint of oak flavor to the wine. The 2002 growing season was hot and prolonged and resulted in a good concentration of flavors in the Syrah. The 2002 Syrah is a medium bodied wine with mild tannins and concentrated flavors and aromas of ripe fruit and jam and nuances of tobacco and spices. It is best served at 16- |
