Yarden El Rom vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2001:

About the wine –

The Yarden ‘El Rom vineyard’ is based entirely on Cabernet Sauvignon, which was grown in Elrom in the northern Golan Heights.

The wine was matured for 18 months in oak barrique, two thirds of which were new.

The Yarden ‘El Rom vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 is a lush and powerful wine, with full, concentrated flavor and a long finish. It has a complex nose and palate with blueberries, black currants, spices and earth, and a bit of herbs in the background.

The wine is ready for drinking at present, but will continue to evolve in the bottle for the next few years, and keep its characteristics for 10-15 years.

It is recommended to drink this wine alongside a hearty meal, with pronounced flavors such as Roast beef with red wine sauce, or Veal stew.

About El Rom vineyard –

El Rom vineyard is situated in the northern part of the Golan Heights, at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. The vineyard site is partly snowed during the winter.

The soil is a deep volcanic, which tends to intensive growing especially in years when late spring rains are encountered.

Yarden ‘El Rom vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 is made from four parcels inside the Elrom vineyard. Two of these, the highest, were planted in 1983, the year of the winery’s foundation, the other two in 1985.

Victor Shoenfeld, head winemaker – “Although we feel that this area is too cold for the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, we found that the relative low angle of the slope (running north to south) helps to warm the vineyard parcels, and by fashioning the vine’s vegetation, we ensure maximum exposure to the sun, resulting in excellent quality“.

Yarden ‘El Rom vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 is a limited edition wine of only 14,000 numbered bottles in a prestigious six bottle wooden case.

A special wooden case of all three ‘Single Vineyard’ wines will also be offered for purchase.

About Ortal vineyard –

Ortal vineyard is situated in northern Golan Heights at the altitude of 800 meters above sea level. This vineyard is the most southerly situated vineyard on the Golan Heights to receive snowfall each winter. The soil is rocky and volcanic.

Yarden ‘Ortal vineyard’ Merlot 2001 is made from four parcels inside the Ortal vineyard. The top parcel was planted in 1989, two intermediate parcels were planted in 1990 and the fourth in 1993.

The rows of vines are planted on a slope facing south-west, which causes irregular sun exposure, but even with these differences, it is possible to achieve unified ripening by shaping the vine and bunches.

Yarden ‘Ortal vineyard’ Merlot 2001 is a limited edition wine of only 14,000 numbered bottles in a prestigious six bottle wooden case.
