Israel Preker, founder of the www.israelwines.co.il website was presented with a special award at the Eshkol Hazahav Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at Tel Aviv’s David Intercontinental Hotel. The presentation was in honour of Preker’s initiative to found the website and maintain it over the years, providing a medium for a constant flow of information about Israel’s wines, vineyards and wineries. Though primarily in Hebrew, there is also an English section bringing Israeli wines to the attention of the world The other person to receive a special award was Shalom Blayer, managing director of the Golan Heights Winery. The winery which won most first place prizes was Recanati Winery. Eshkol Hazahav, which translates as The Golden Cluster, is one of two major wine tasting competitions held in Israel. The other is Terravino.
