The Book of New Israeli Food’ is a great addition to the library of all food lovers. Described on the cover as a ‘culinary journey,’ it weaves its way through the colors and tastes that make up the fabric of Israeli society. At last there is a representative book on Israeli food, which is published to international standards of professionalism and quality. Though the book is primarily about food, wine also receives good coverage. There are number of essays in the book and but the one on wine entitled “Wine Fever In the Holy Land”, is the longest and most comprehensive. It touches on history, wine in a Jewish context, and covers the different wine regions in The book is beautifully presented with wonderful photography by Eilon Paz. It has the feel and look of a fine coffee table book and so will make the ideal gift for some, however with its flexi cover and numerous recipes, it will be a cook book for others. “The Book of New Israeli Food” is written and edited by Janna Gur and published in English by Al Hashulchan Gastronomic Media Ltd.
