One of the world’s most famous wine tasting competitions has announced its results for the 2005 competition. The Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux awarded  one gold medal, four silver and nine bronze to Israel. The gold medal winner was Yatir Winery for their Yatir Forest 2001. Other wineries winning medals included Binyamina, Barkan, Carmel, Golan Heights & Tishbi.   A list of the successful Israeli wineries is as follows:   GOLD:   Yatir Forest 2001, Judean Hills, Yatir Winery   SILVER:   Binyamina Special Reserve Merlot 2002 Yarden Chardonnay 2002 Segal Merom Galil Chardonnay 2003 Yarden Gewurztraminer 2002   BRONZE:   Carmel Limited Edition 2002 Barkan Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2001 Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 Yarden Syrah 2001 Barkan Merlot Reserve 2002 Yarden Katzrin Chardonnay 2002 Tishbi Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 Barkan Pinotage Reserve 2002 Carmel Appellation Cabernet Franc   Challenge International du Vin, which in previous years was associated with ‘Vinexpo’, is France’s premier wine tasting competition. This year 4,860 wines were submitted from 35 countries.
